Congratulations to all recipients on their outstanding achievements and to the generous supporters who are helping them to achieve their goals.


Victoria

Olivia Boscolo is studying a Certificate IV in Music at NMIT TAFE and wants to progress to a degree in classical voice.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary has provided Olivia with a Macbook Air, a large monitor, iPhone and iPad.  These Apple products all come with built in magnification and speech output.

Sif Dal is studying a PhD in Creative Writing at Deakin University.  In 2011 she contributed her short story “Pretty Little Girl” to the Lost Children anthology raising money for the charities Protect and Children First.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Sif with a Macbook Air, a multifunction printer with Abby Finereader OCR software, a Touch Memo audio labeller, an iPad and a Zoomax desktop CCTV.

Daniel McDonald-Harris is studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne with a deep interest in philosophy and psychology. And he also performs in a band.  The bursary provided Daniel with a Macbook Pro, a printer, ABBY Finereader OCR software and a Victor Reader Stream DAISY player.

Ben Pettingill is studying a Bachelor of Business Sports Management at La Trobe University.  It is very impressive how quickly Ben adapted to his vision loss and was able to maintain high academic results.  The Bursary provided Ben with a laptop with JAWS screen reading software, a multifunction printer, an iPhone and an iPad.

Alexandra Sarac is studying a Graduate Diploma of Secondary Education at Victoria University after last year completing her Bachelor of Youth Work.  The Bursary provided Alex with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software, and a Victor Reader Stream Daisy player.

Maddison Stephenson is studying a Certificate IV in Disability at Chisholm TAFE and is hoping to use this as a pathway into a Health Sciences degree.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Maddison with a Macbook Pro laptop, an iPad and a Smartview 360 desktop CCTV.


New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory

Jonathan Goerlach is studying a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science / Sports Management at the University of Canberra.  He is also training to qualify for the 2016 Rio Paralympics. The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Jonathan with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, a multifunction printer and a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software.

Susie Barrington is studying Community Services Work as her involvement with the Quality Living Group program made her realise that she had a lot of knowledge to share and she wants to use this to help others.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary has provided Susie with a laptop to run her own copy of JAWS, a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software, a printer and an iPad.

Anthony Biddle is studying a Bachelor of Health and Rehabilitation Science at Charles Sturt University.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Anthony with a laptop with JAWS, large monitor, multifunction printer with Omnipage OCR software and an iPad.

Daniel Brown is studying a Diploma in Fitness at Sutherland TAFE.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided daniel with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, a multifunction printer with Omnipage OCR software and an iPad.

Mark Halliday is a Physiotherapist who is specialising in the management of lower back pain and studying a Doctorate at the University of Sydney.  The Bursary has provided Mark with a Laptop with JAWS screen reading software and a multifunction printer with Omnipage OCR software.

Isabelle Hampton will be studying a Bachelor of Business (Management) at Charles Sturt University.  The Bursary provided Isabelle with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, multifunction printer with Omnipage OCR software and an iPad.

Jasmine Harris is studying a Bachelor of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Macquarie University. The Bursary provided Jasmine with a Macbook Air, a large monitor, Zoomtext magnification software, a multifunction printer and a handheld electronic magnifier.

Hailay Gebremariam is studying a Diploma of Law through the Legal Profession Admissions Board of NSW. The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary has provided Hailay with a laptop to run his own copy of JAWS, a multifunction printer, a Touch Memo audio labeller and a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software.

Stacey McKee is Studying a Bachelor of Applied Social Science at ACAP.  Stacey’s goal is to become a Social Worker and support at risk children. The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Stacey with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech output, a large monitor, a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software and an iPhone.

Widad Nahhas is studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Western Sydney and intends to move into Primary Teaching.  The Bursary provided Widad with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software and an iPhone.

Stephanie Peebles works part-time for The Office of Environment and Heritage and is studying a Diploma in Project Management. The Bursary has provided Stephanie with a Macbook Air, a multifunction printer, an iPhone and iPad. All these Apple products come with built in magnification and speech output

Gabrielle Ringger is studying a Diploma of Remedial Massage at Randwick College.  The Bursary has provided Gabrielle with a Pearl high speed scanner with Openbook OCR software.

Brooke Stone is studying a Certificate IV in VET Nursing at Tamworth TAFE and wants to continue on into a Bachelor of Zoology.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Brooke with a laptop with Zoomtext magnification and speech, a multifunction printer and Omnipage OCR software and an iPad.


Queensland

Karina Davies is studying a Bachelor of Behavioural Studies through Open University Australia while she home schools her daughter.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Karina with a laptop running Zoomtext magnification with speech, a Pearl high speed scanner and Openbook OCR software and a Victor Reader Stream DAISY player.

Blake Ison is studying a Bachelor of Justice and Legal Studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  The Vision Australia Further Education Bursary provided Blake with a laptop with JAWS screen reading software, an iPhone and a Victor Reader Stream DAISY player.
