Event Description

The Vision Australia Library are thrilled to share our final In Conversation for 2024 with one of the shining stars of Australian fiction. We have successfully enticed Monica McInerney from her Irish sabbatical for our Christmas edition of In Conversation. Join us for a wonderful summer’s evening, as we interview Monica in the early morning chill of the Irish winter!

Please note, this zoom meeting is hosted in Melbourne, at 6pm AEDT. Clients based in WA, NT & QLD will need to log on an hour earlier than usual to accommodate day light savings.

About Monica McInerney

Monica is the award-winning author of twelve bestselling novels, a gorgeous children's book and a beautiful short story collection. Her work has been translated into more than 12 languages. Monica's non-fiction articles have appeared in newspapers, magazines and anthologies in Australia, the UK and Ireland. Her books are consistently featured in the top 10 book lists in Australia and Ireland, including the prized #1 position on many occasions.

Join us to discover how Monica started her career as a wardrobe girl for the children’s TV show Here’s Humphrey. Survived her first book review, which identified A Taste for It as “a load of old plonk”. Ultimately emerged as an Australian bestselling author and winner of the General Fiction Book of the Year in the Australian Book Industry Awards.

Immerse yourself in a wide selection of Monica’s books available through Vision Australia Library. Choose from The Godmothers, The Trip of a Lifetime, The House of Memories, Lola’s Secret, The Alphabet Sisters, Spin the Bottle, Upside Down Inside Out and A Taste for It; which are all available in audio. Additionally, we have At Home with the Templetons, Those Faraday Girls, Family Baggage and All Together Now (a short story collection) available in Braille.
