There are big changes underway for Vision Australia clients in Melbourne's east, with our Boronia office set to close and a new, state-of-the-art centre in Ringwood opening in September.
Regional Business Manager North East and Outer Eastern Melbourne Paul Warwick says the Vision Australia office at 252 Dorset Road, Boronia, will shut for the final time on Wednesday, 12 September after almost 19 years, with the new centre at Shop 3, Civic Place, Ringwood, to open on Monday, 17 September.
Paul says the move gives the organisation a much more accessible site for clients.
“It’s right opposite the Ringwood railway station and bus interchange, which minimises the need for many clients to change trains or buses to make their appointments with us,” he says.
“A taxi rank is just metres away, and there is a vast amount of car parking nearby.
“The new centre is also a ground floor site, unlike our existing Boronia office. There are no stairs or lifts, and there’s easy from the street, and we have used high contrast office furnishings and décor to make it easier for our clients to navigate once inside.”
The new facility will include a large retail space that will display the latest assistive technology and equipment to support people who are blind or have low visions to pursue the tasks they enjoy and live the lives they choose.
“We have strived to deliver the best possible environment for our clients, volunteers and staff with public transport and vehicle access that we think is among the best for all of our centres in Australia. We can’t wait to open the doors,” Mr Warwick says.
The new Ringwood centre will retain the old phone number from the Boronia office - (03) 9760 0000.
