Just 24 per cent of Australians who are blind or have low vision are in full time employment.
Employer attitudes and inaccessible workplaces can pose a challenge to people who are blind or have low vision, but navigating the job search process can also prove difficult.
In the latest from our Cornerstone hub, Vision Australia’s Tina Brunet spoke to three consultants from leading recruitment organisation Randstad for a special podcast about how to get the most out of your job search
One topic the podcast touched on was selection criteria in job advertisements and how people should approach them in their applications.
“It’s really important to realise that no one is going to ever hit every part of that key selection criteria,” Randstad recruiter Pip Whiteman said.
“Have a look at your strengths, and turn your weaknesses around into a positive that ties into those,” Pip said.
