Vision Australia would like to pay tribute to a much loved and respected member of our team.
Stephen Crook, son, father, grandfather, husband, friend and Vision Australia’s Chief Financial Officer passed away suddenly over Easter.
We would like to express our condolences to his family and friends and acknowledge the life of a man whose warmth and appetite for life brought joy to so many.
While based in Melbourne, Stephen was well-known across Vision Australia from Perth to Townsville, having joined in 2010 initially as Financial Controller and soon after became Company Secretary. Stephen also served as Acting General Manager Fundraising, General Manager Insights and Measures, and became CFO in January last year, heading up the Organisational Support and Infrastructure team. His legacy will live on at Vision Australia, with the tools he and his team have built to help underpin the financial health of our organisation.
But, just as Stephen was widely recognised for his commitment to Vision Australia and the blindness and low vision community, he was equally well-known for his passion for life.
Whether it was family, motorbike rides with mates and many other activities, Stephen never appeared to waste a moment. He was generous with his support, mentoring many people across Vision Australia and was always quick with a kind word – or occasionally a bit of gentle but good-natured teasing.
Stephen will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
