Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.
It’s certainly been a month for anniversaries as the Feelix library recently celebrated its 20th year.
Reading plays a key role in the learning and development of every child, and the Feelix Library helps children who are blind or have low vision to learn and develop in a unique, sensory way to support their lifelong literacy and learning.
Sam caught up with acting library manager Sarah Bloedorn to have a chat about Feelix, her involvement in the Feelix library and the exciting things planned for Feelix in 2024 and beyond.
“I will never get sick of having those little notes kind of appear in the Feelix kits thanking you for a book.
I certainly always have a bit of a laugh when a book comes back with some bite marks up the side, or a little bit of a tear or a scribble because you always know someone’s had a good time with that,” Sarah said.
“I think there's a lot of joy in thinking about how important these books are and how they just become part of family life, which is really special,” she said.
